THE STORY THREAD

This is a Thread so that we ALL can participate with a small story. All DIFFERENT ones.
Ok, I will go first.

One day it happened that a frog from the Ocean came to the well---
he must have been a tourist. He came into the well, introduced himself
to the frog of the well, and said, "I come from the Ocean."

Naturally the frog asked, "Ocean?" What do you mean by ocean?"
What is it?"

The frog from the Ocean said, "IT is very difficult to describe, sir,
because you have never left this well it seems. It is so small. But still
I will try."

The frog of the well laughed. He said, "NObody has ever heard about
anything bigger than this well. How big is your Ocean?"

And the frog of the well jumped one-third of the space of the well
and said: "This much?"

The frog of the Ocean laughed said: "No sir:"

The frog from the well jumped two-thirds of the space and said,
"This much?" Then he jumped the whole space and said, "now it must be
exactly like this well."

But the frog from the ocean said, "IT is imposible to describe. The
difference is not of quantity, it is of quality, It is vast! It is not circunscribed!"

The frog from the well said, "You seem to be either a madman or a philosopher
or a liar. You get out of here! Don't talk nonsense!"

THAT'S WHAT THE MAN OF THE WORLD HAS ALWAYS SAID TO THE MYSTIC:
"DON'T TALK NONSENSE! BE PRACTICAL AND TALK THE LANGUAGE THAT WE
UNDERSTAND!"

A tailor was employed by the Queen to make a ball gown for the ball that was to take place 3 days from the day she told him. She wanted all the jewels he could find and gold and silver braid from all over the world. Having no sewing machine to make the dress, he had to hand sew everything that he placed in front of him. Reels and reels of the most expensive cottons, jewels of every discription and gold and silver braid from far and near. He sat sewing all day and all night, sewing until his fingers bled, but he carried on just so the Queen would look beautiful for her ball. Once the dress of the most expensive silk was finished it was now time for the jewels and braid to be added, thinking of the look of the Queen, he knew he had to do his utmost so she would stand out in a crowd.
The day arrived when he presented the dress to her, her face lit up as he entered the room. She was so pleased with the outcome of what the tailor had made, gave him a purse full of gold coins for himself to treat his family. But as he was about to leave the room he noticed that a piece of cotton was hanging from the underskirt. Not to put the Queen off, he left in a hurry and went back to his family.
The night of the ball was lovely, the Queen in her elegance walked into the hall with gasps of delight from all her guests. Until a servant past her by catching the piece of cotton that was still hanging and pulled with all his might to wriggle free. The underskirt fell to the floor and everyone around including the Queen fainted in horror.
The moral to this story is, a stitch in time saves nine. So if you have any cotton hanging please see to it before it becomes an embarrassment.
